Sampling the delights of the Hunter Valley.

Just an hour down the road, inland, is the Hunter Valley wine region. How exciting....100+ different vineyards....all with free wine testing!! We narrowed it down to about 5 which was a good job considering there were at least 8 different wines to try in each! (Chris and Dad kindly offered to drive.)This first one was the Audrey Wilkinson Vineyard; they were very friendly and merrily gave us plenty of variety......after the 8th sample I turned to Mum and seriously said ,
(in my best wine connoisseur 's Pommy accent)...... "this wine is very dinkable!"
Mum and I thought this was hysterical and with tears rolling down our cheeks, we tried to appreciate the next sample and make intelligent comments. This didn't last long ......we were soon offered the dessert wine....the poor chap who was pouring our wine put water into the glass, for us to clean it and my Mum thought this was the dessert wine; she took a pondering sip and we errupted into renewed laughter! Chris and my Dad ran out of this wine establishment....embarrassed for some reason. We tried to hurry after them but Mum crashed into the bench as we left! (good bruises and not leaving unnoticed!)

We soon felt better and able to cope with more wine tasting after a good picnic in the beautiful surroundings of this vineyard.

Next came the Lindemans vineyard...we liked the white wines but the reds were disappointing.
Jessica enjoyed having sticky knickers........ It was the name of one of the fudge flavours!

The Rosemount wines were next; we all got very excited and bought a mixed box of 6 wines....very tasty...still have 5 bottles left!!

McGuigans was the last one we managed before we had to be at our weekend retreat. This was a big estate and Jessica liked the cheese tasting.

On arriving at The Potter's Brewery Dad and Chris went off to do some well earned beer tasting while Mum and I recovered and took the children for a lovely swim, sauna & jacuzzi.
