First game of cricket. He bowls......

Completely foxes the opposition and out went her middle wicket. If any Australian neighbours were curtain twitching as we played they'll be thinking The Ashes are in the bag next year based on our standard of play.

First Lawn Mow. No big deal? Maybe not but our lawn back home is about a quarter of the size and this petrol mower is about three times the weight. David could have warned me about this. My three consolations were a "cool stubby" afterwards. Tina can't complain about the grass length the next time Alex bowls her out and once I start work this will be her job!

First Aussie Barbie. Welcome to John, Lisa and Emily 3/4 of the Pateman family who have been given the dubious honour of being our "community sponsors", while we are here. They did us proud with a fine tour of various great locations (mainly involving sand and water which we will no doubt revisit and blog later) and not so great (Hunter St in Newcastle is in desperate need of an Urban renewal programme). all rounded off with the inevitable Barbie. The prawns were served but not on the barbie. Any differences? There is no "Shove it all on" mentality. You don't say let's go in because it is cold but you do go incase the fruitbats dive bomb you and the cicadas start to drown out any conversation

Tina & Chris ,
Looks like hard work all that Barbecueing/Socialising.Hayleigh's has four wobbly teeth and she's heard that Alex got $10 from the Aussie tooth fairy . I had to explain to her that we've got Gordon Brown over here so don't expect as much!!Went to the Christmas panto yesterday over the Mayflower, was really good.
Bethany's SAT's are fast approaching and went to a meeting tonight about them, don't think Bethany will like them!!
Tell Tina that her footwork on her cover drive leaves a lot to be desired ! See if you can get hold of a cd of a mickey take of cricket by "The Twelfth Man", it's hilarious !!(Adults only!)
Don't like the look of those big flies !! no wonder they all wear hats with corks dangling from them !! Keep drinking the "Coldies"
Speak to you soon

Hi,
Seems like you are doing allright out there, do remember to bring the sunblock when you come over to NZ for skiing, the sun can be quite strong. We forgot once, and 3 days later I was still in pain!
Anyway, our countdown is starting now, just 2 more weeks and we will be jetting off. A lot of packing to do, but as long as I get on that plane I am happy!
Take care, good luck with your job, Chris.
Pete & Chantal.
it wouldn't be that chappell bloke without a beer in hand.... Good on yer, cobber!
Glad to see you've arrived safely (yeah, OK, about 3 weeks ago, but there's a time diffrence and all that...) and are settling into the new routines. Can't believe you haven't started work yet, Chris - you're not on holiday, you know???
How's the surf, Tina - any good swells recently? (phnah, phnah...)
Jack has been looking at Oz on his Globe Lamp he got for Christmas and has been suitably impressed at how far away you are! (Not that it means anything to a 4 1/2 year old)
Will be in touch again properly - missing you, but glad you're having a good time!
Hugs and everything
Saunders!
